By Marie Peterson

When it comes to shopping for clothes, it is easy to get caught up with images. There is nothing wrong with this since most people dress to look presentable. However, no one should spend a small fortune in looking good to go to work unless it is expected and receive a salary that justifies the expense. All anyone needs is a good shirt, bottoms that fit well and for men, buying affordable handmade ties designer brands is a wise choice.

Anyone looking to save money on office attire should look at the variety of ties in their closet before investing in a suit. This is recommended for those who may wear a shirt and tie to work but want to look nice. In this instance, it also helps to be practical.

Although having at least one silk tie is good for special occasions, having one in a knit or other fabric that complements khaki pants is a good idea also. Especially since some office jobs may involve a little physical labor, it helps to have something that can handle the delicate wash. While some job title may not require a person to get dressed up, it does make a nice impression when attending big meetings or networking events.

When getting dressed for environments that have a dress code, normally a white buttoned shirt is the safe choice. However, there are other color choices that make coordinating a little easier. When wearing a tie with more than one color, picking up the minor color and matching it with a shirt or accessories is simpler than most people tend to think.

In many conservative office settings, vibrant colors like fuschia, kelly green, and royal blue are best as trim. Meaning that a hint of this type of color, like a tie or visible lining, is best in a limited capacity. If a man is working as support staff in an environment where everyone is expected to dress exceptional, it may help to look at a color wheel and understand combinations.

Finding the right color combinations for a wardrobe is not really an art but consulting a color wheel can create numerous possibilities. It costs nothing to learn about how sets of colors work together. Anyone can find ideas that will work with their budget and keep them looking like a professional.

For those with want to make a nice impression but do not have a lot of money, a good investment would be to get one or two shirts made by a tailor. Those with body types that are hard to fit need something that looks good and is practical. While the same can be said for slack, often the top of the body is the first thing most people see.

Adding a few fashionable ties to a wardrobe is a great way to not only upgrade but create different looks. Instead of going after trendy pieces, choosing a few tops and bottoms with nice construction is the best shopping rule. Good fabric will last for years and should always be comfortable.
